Today we’d like to introduce you to Kira Adams.
Hi Kira, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, but back in 2012 I stumbled upon Amanda Hocking and her sudden Amazon success with her indie novels. I immersed myself into blogs similar to hers like JA Konrath’s A Newbie’s Guide to Publishing. I spent months reading and researching as much as I could into the industry and what I would need to do. By 2014, I had self-published my first novel. Fast forward to today, I now have 17 books out under my pen name of Kira Adams and 1 book out under my real name, Krista Pakseresht.
I have three series and four standalone novels. I write mainly Young Adult/New Adult Romance, but I also dabble in Post Apocalyptic, Romantic Suspense, Fantasy, and more.
I enjoy writing about flawed characters because I truly believe our flaws make us beautiful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Self-publishing is no joke. It’s an uphill battle and a learning curve for anyone, however if you put the time and effort into it, it’s more than worth it. I think the hardest thing is not knowing where to start or look for answers and finding your tribe.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In my real life, I wear many hats. I am an indie pop singer/songwriter who also helps with an open mic twice a month in downtown Las Vegas. My day job consists of remote work from home doing sales and writing and music gives me an escape from all of that. I’m a creative to the core.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Cherish the good times, celebrate your small successes, and most of all don’t give up. Quitters never win.
