Meet Tia Lindsey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia Lindsey.

Hi Tia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As a little girl, I always wanted to do hair. At the age of 16, I went to cosmetology school and that is where my journey began. I later was blessed to own my 1st hair salon in 2008 100% Chocolate Braidery/Barber Shop since then I’ve opened four businesses.

100% Chocolate Hair Boutique is where I currently work as a hairstylist and wig maker, Team Chocolate Luxury Brand Products I was able to turn my passion into styling products and hair maintenance products. Chocolate Wa’sted was established in the Pandemic 2020 salons were closed and I thought to myself what could I do without touching a single person but giving them the experience to change their life so I started to expand my brand and create my sell waist trainers, shapewear, activewear and etc. Beautiful Crowns (Medical Wigs) was established in 2021 after taking a wig-making refresher course. I was introduced to the idea of becoming a Cranial Prothesis Specialist in layman’s terms a medical wig provider. This allows women to have the opportunity to possibly have their insurance pay for a wig if they have a medical condition WHAT a game changer this has been if you know me. I love giving back, this business has allowed me the opportunity to build something special and to build a team that I can trust and that’s loyal.

We now currently have three employees…

Someone asked me how are you able to do all of this 1st. Prayer 2nd Discipline and 3rd Consistency is the key always think outside the box never give up and be willing to make sacrifices for what matters to you and this is my personal favorite “There are no losses in life only lessons that lead to blessings”.

This is a small glimpse into who I am as a salon owner, business women and entrepreneur until I die… I could be none of these things without Jah.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t always been a smooth road some of the obstacles have come because I didn’t always have a team I also had to fight my own self-doubt like “could I do it ” and most importantly working on my patients not to just give up and go get a regular job when things got hard but to trust the process and if I can give a corporation a 100% of me then I deserved to give myself 200%.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m currently a hairstylist/wig maker But I’m also a Cranial Prothesis specialist in layman’s terms I make medical wigs for people who have cancer, alopecia and permanent hair loss… I am most proud to be able to have a skill that can change a person’s life our hair is something that affects our mood the way we view ourselves and how we feel accepted in society this has giving me the opportunity to meet women of all ages and to be able to be a part of their experience has changed the way I look at people… What sets me apart from others is that I truly care about each person that sits in my chair for a consultation/ wig installation, as I hear their stories and what they’ve been through it breathes life into me and encourages me to not give up.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
My favorite books is Rich Dad Poor Dad, Michelle Obama Becoming, The Bible and a book entitled How to Retire Early. Favorite Podcast I Am Athlete.

And I know this wasn’t a part of the question but favorite documentary “She did that ”
