Meet Bridget Weiser

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridget Weiser.

Hi Bridget, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in Chicago as the youngest of five children, both of my parents were creative and extremely gifted people. I come from creative, bright, philosophical, and loquacious people. My mother loved music — we would dance in our living room while listening to records all the time. My father was a musician who showed me what was cool and what wasn’t. He encouraged me to become an artist and to learn how to entertain. As he aptly described me years ago, “Some of us are born workhorses, some are racehorses — you’re a show horse.”

I’ve always paid attention to my image and felt that self-expression is one of our biggest collective desires in life. Style says so much about how we are feeling. Fashion is art — it represents our mood. Throughout my life, I’ve received questions and compliments about what I was wearing. I knew that my style was unique and had a lot of fun getting dressed every day. I decided to make a business out of my ideas, to share information about how to feel and look good at the same time.

I decided to get certified as a life coach a few years ago so I can combine my knowledge of fashion with my internal wisdom. A lot of people don’t pay attention to what hangs in their closet and how quickly it can create clutter in the mind. It’s not easy to let go of clothing — sometimes you need a push to create space for a new wardrobe. Shopping can be exhausting. Between the mirrors and the lighting, dressing rooms often make you feel like you’re in a vulnerable state. I’m here to help people improve their self-image and make better choices in the clothing they own. What you wear is how you present yourself to the world. When we’re comfortable and confident in ourselves and what we’re wearing, we shine with a radiant magnetism that is unique to us all.

Being an artist in LA is tremendous — there’s so much inspiration out here. The minute I began my life in Los Angeles I made a promise that my number one job was to learn how to be a happy, whole human — not a human full of holes. I think my style is all about the energy that comes from within. There’s a way for all of us to feel that. Being noticed for who you are is an amazing feeling. People often think that they don’t have time to pay attention to their wardrobe, but with a little enthusiasm and an openness to reinvention, your whole life can change.

I’m the person you consult with when you want to make an impression and you don’t know what to wear — that’s my expertise. My advice is you don’t want to overthink things, and if you look confident and stylish, I guarantee you will feel infinitely cooler.

Style is the answer to everything.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve definitely faced some challenges while deciding to pursue styling. I felt really lost for a long time as to where to begin. I didn’t believe I was capable of making a business out of something I love.

I’m a painter and a musician. I’m used to collecting ideas, but I’ve always been inclined to keep my process to myself — styling is completely different. If someone compliments my outfit, I write down all of the details including how much I paid for it. Sometimes you love something so much which comes effortlessly in your life that you can’t imagine it to be lucrative as well. I’m interested in styling the person who feels despair, who has a hard time letting go, those who need a new attitude about their own personal expression and looking to attract new things in their lives.

Not everyone is familiar with good taste — that’s why they hire me. Having these types of conversations requires a person to let go and embrace a transformation. There shouldn’t be any kind of shame or discomfort around it. Style is about being yourself. You must confront the parts of you that feel otherwise.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in art. I create paintings for homes and personal spaces and I’m a styling coach. Every artist is a problem solver. When you use your skills to help others, the universe rewards you. I help people clean out their closets so we can build a capsule wardrobe for every season. I rely on my good taste and the ability to help people get to know themselves. We get dressed everyday with an opportunity to create a mood. Choosing an outfit that compliments who you are can affect the course of your entire day. Having a strategy is essential when reinventing yourself. Once you can identify your style and who you are, you can create smarter choices while creating a wardrobe that you love.

Everyone’s style is unique because of their energy. For instance, I’m all about basics with an added edge. I’ve always been a huge fan of music and art — I find a way to add something unexpected. Having an incredible jacket and a great pair of boots can make you feel like a star in your own private movie.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out? My advice to anyone starting out with any type of creative endeavor is that you don’t have to cater to anything but what you believe is in your heart…and you better fight for it. Sometimes we can’t stand our own reflections. If we get close enough to the truth of who we are, our self-image will improve, we can let go of any heaviness surrounding our appearance and allow our insides to finally match our outsides. Every single human being is a completely unique creation. We are here to master ourselves and be in the pursuit of our dreams so we can feel alive. We do not see people as they are, but as they appear to be. And these appearances are usually given the last thought when it should be the first. Style and taste go hand in hand. So if you’re looking to make an impression, you better pay attention.

Confidence is that magical medicine that soothes us all. And like my father used to say, “If you look good, I look twice”
