Life & Work with Sean Kirk

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Kirk.

Hi Sean, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2013, I started working in luxury retail department stores. That is where I learned the art of engaging in and maintaining relationships with clients. I also learned all about the fashion game. The importance of craftsmanship, details, and the quality of fabrics & materials. Being in that environment, I would come across a lot of high-profile clients and celebrities. I would go above and beyond with my customer service and also work to provide service and maintain the relationship after the sale. That is how I built and retained my client book of celebs.

I started off in Philadelphia. Once I conquered that market and got experience working with a few of the local pro athletes there, I moved to NYC for three years and built & expanded my network there. In 2018, I decided to take my client book & network and go fully independent. I started Sean Kirk Fashion Consulting (SKFC) and moved to LA to begin offering my services to my clients and putting my stamp on projects.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been pretty smooth with the startup and operation of my fashion styling/image consultant business because of how I learned the game while working in the luxury stores. I was able to apply a lot of those tactics to my own business model. The biggest challenge was coming to a new city and getting my name out there but I was still able to get that done fairly quickly because of people I knew and/or worked with previously in this industry.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My professional title is fashion & image consultant. I specialize in all fashion productions including but not limited to runway, photo/video shoots, red carpet, creative direction, content creation, personal shopping, editorial, and TV & movie wardrobe. I am known for putting my own creative touch on projects thru my creative direction and acute attention to detail. I’m most proud of my ability to handle any type of project and meet the craziest deadlines even on short notice. I always aim to create an experience for the client to the point they will remember what we did and want to partner again in the future. What sets me apart from others is my attention to detail. I make it a point to dress my clients for their body type. I always go for looks that will compliment their figure, character, and personality. I don’t just throw a bunch of outfits at them and hope one will work. I actually do the research on them and study to make sure everything aligns properly.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I feel like my ability to stay true to myself and my fashion eye along with my passion for other people’s vision is most important. Once I’m retained to partner with a client, I look at their goal as my goal and take it very seriously. I want them to succeed and accomplish in bringing to life whatever that vision is because a victory for them is a victory for me as well. I take that stuff personal.
