Daily Inspiration: Meet Golnaz Avjou Ahmadi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Golnaz Avjou Ahmadi.

Hi Golnaz, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was 25 years old when I started building out my salon, and it took about a year to bring it to life. At 26, I opened the doors in 2016, and now, a decade later, I’m proud of everything this space has become. As a professional makeup artist, celebrity hairstylist, and brow specialist, I’ve always believed in clean beauty and creating a space rooted in wellness.

While I began this journey on my own, it was built with the support of an incredible team of talented stylists who share the same vision. Together, we created one of Los Angeles’ first non-toxic salons — a space where we use only clean, safe products, filtered water at our shampoo stations, and make sure even the air you breathe supports your well-being. We offer non-toxic hair color that’s free of PPD and ammonia, so clients don’t have to compromise their health for beauty. Cleanliness is a top priority here — from our tools to our stations, every corner of the salon is maintained with the highest standards to ensure a safe, welcoming experience for everyone who walks in.

From day one, my goal was to create a healthy environment not just for clients, but for the stylists too — a space where beauty and wellness can thrive side by side. Every detail matters, and our five-star reviews on Yelp and Google reflect that.

A decade later, I launched Avjou Researche™ — my own clean, non-toxic hair care line focused on supporting hair growth, improving scalp health, and helping to reverse premature greys. After COVID, I saw firsthand how many people were struggling with hair loss, and I wanted to create something that could truly help. Avjou Researche™ is a reflection of everything I’ve learned and believe in: real results powered by nature and science, with no compromise to health and of course our environment.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. We were shut down for months during COVID, and then went through three break-ins where everything was taken. We had to rebuild from the ground up—our space, our inventory, and our community, since so many clients had moved away. It was one of the hardest seasons of my life. But through it all, I held on to my faith. I truly believe that without that faith, I wouldn’t have had the strength to keep going. It reminded me that even in the darkest times, there’s always a way forward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a founder, professional hairstylist, makeup artist, and eyebrow specialist with over 15 years of experience. I own Salon Biology, one of Los Angeles’ first non-toxic salons, and I’m also the creator of Avjou Researche™, a clean hair care line focused on hair growth, grey reversal, and slowing aging naturally. I’m known for my holistic approach to beauty, and I work with celebrities, high-level CEOs, and clients who value quality and wellness.

What sets me apart is my dedication to clean, high-performance beauty—both in the salon and through my product line. I’m proud of building two businesses from the ground up and creating a safe, elevated space for clients to look and feel their best.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, so what I love most about this city is the beautiful weather, the natural beauty of California, and how incredible our clients are—truly warm, inspiring people. What I like least is the homeless situation, which has been heartbreaking to witness, specifically after COVID.
