Today we’d like to introduce you to Maia Barnett.
Maia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started maiorganization because I genuinely enjoy organizing, helping others reach their goals and making an impact! I felt creating my business to provide this service made sense. I wanted to utilize my strengths and consideration of others, their current situations and environments that may be disorganized, cluttered and damaging their mental state. I started formalizing and strategizing my business towards the end of 2020 and launched 1/1/2021. My boyfriend actually came up with the name “maiorganization”. A lot of my close family and friends call me “Mai” so this name is very personal to me. My best friend helped me come up with an acronym for “m.a.i.” – it is mindfully, align, inventory. I remember we were sitting at the Century City mall talking about my new business and from that day, I have embraced and uplifted the meaning of mindfulness and alignment for one’s inventory. Six months in and I am truly enjoying this journey. I am helping and getting people’s lives organized. It is extremely fulfilling!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have definitely had some bumps in the road as any business owner would but I appreciate them and take them as lessons. Some struggles I’ve come across are being my own boss and making real business decisions. It is also a sacrifice for my personal life as I navigate and manage working full time, being a daughter, sister, girlfriend, best friend and taking care of myself. There are so many layers that one may not realize come with running a business, but tackling them one by one has helped me keep going!
We’ve been impressed with maiorganization, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
maiorganization provides in-home and virtual organizing services to the greater la area and beyond! There are four pillars to maiorganization: process, purge, prepare and perfect – these pillars are key to getting your inventory mindfully aligned. I organize all spaces in homes from bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, storage closets, work/home offices, and more!
maiorganization approaches your project and mindset with a non-judgmental open-heart and open-mind. I understand that your space’s current state can feel embarrassing and difficult to share. The first step is acknowledging that you need help and that investing in a professional organizer will relieve your stress, remove physical clutter and reduce your time spent sorting through your inventory. I believe physical clutter leads to mental clutter. When there’s mental clutter, your mind is flooded and one can become overwhelmed, stressed and unable to be the best version of themselves. I know with having a busy life, some of the daunting tasks like decluttering and organizing feel like a huge weight on your shoulders. That is why I provide my time and dedication to take away all of your stress and worry that comes from spaces in your home that lack order. I aim to bring peace of mind to your home and help you truly love it again.
I’m most proud of my brand’s mission and the content I have developed thus far. I am passionate about organizing and decluttering because I have experienced firsthand how the benefits have saved me time, money and overall improved my mind.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was very active, I was always doing something. Playing sports, traveling, attending games, and birthday parties. Oh, and I loved cheetah print (still do). I like to call myself a cheetah girl. Some may also say I was a teacher’s pet and liked by everyone. The really nice girl – still am. I grew up mainly playing basketball and continued to play through college on scholarship. I still am and always was a busy body.
