Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Vinson.
Hi Savannah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m originally from a small town in Ohio called Harrison. When I was 17 years old, I new I had bigger plans for myself. So, I decided to graduate high school one year early and move to New York City, all by myself. I didn’t know anyone, but all I knew is that I wanted to model. The best way to get started in the industry is to connect with other creatives. I started networking, going to agencies, and castings left and right. Fast forward I model full time, I’m a content creator on Tik Tok and Instagram with over 178,000 followers, and I started my own casting agency Queen Castings. I decided to start my own agency because of how messed up the industry was. It would take 90 days to get paid through a modeling agency, there were so many requirements with height, size, etc. So I was able to build my connections so wide I could start my own agency and help other models book work and get paid the same day! Queen Castings is all about breaking the typical model standards making all body types feel like a queen.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! This industry is intense! My struggle was my height. I’m 5”7, which is tall to most but a lot of clients had an issue with it. They wanted 5”9 minimum and up. However, I stayed true to myself and always showed my personality and what I can bring to the table to curve this issue. It’s definitely got better, but here and there I do come across clients still having a problem with it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a professional model, content creator on social media, and a casting director. My favorite clients I have modeled for would be Target, Walmart, Wella, Redken, MCM, Sprayground, Black Pyramid and so many more! As far as my casting agency, I have booked models for Canva, NYFW designer Olivia Z Cheng, Dumbo Moving, Playland, Freshly, Nordstrom, Yadea, and so much more! We have over 1000 models on our casting roster in NY, LA, and Miami!
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Staying humble and remembering where you started in your career.
